These metrics are based on a 7-day time frame, unless noted otherwise.

🔺What we’re watching: Avalanche just marked its best performing month by transaction count, with 515.3 million transactions processed across its indexed layer-1 (L1) blockchains, onchain data shows

🔺Why it matters: This surge in onchain activity was fueled by application-specific L1 blockchains on Avalanche, which can create tailored networks with custom rules, validator sets and tokenomics.

There are more than 20 different categories for Avalanche L1s, making the network an ideal environment for niche applications. This flexibility has attracted a wide range of projects, from web3 gaming titles like MapleStory Universe to solutions like Balcony for real estate investment accessibility.

While a high transaction count may not directly correlate to an uptick in users, the milestone showcases the network’s ability to facilitate a large number of transactions without compromising security. In addition to its high transaction count, Avalanche provides the infrastructure for its L1s to thrive. So an increase in transaction count makes it an attractive metric for new developers. This is because users and developers decide where to deploy based on both ease of use and amount of activity that goes on.

🔺The bigger picture: As more users, institutions and enterprises enter web3, these entities will choose which blockchains to deploy on based on infrastructure and user activity.

Since high transaction counts can make it attractive for developers, it can give reassurance to these new entrants that Avalanche is able to support high demand and frequency. In tandem with Avalanche’s interoperability and customization, the network’s usage milestone underscores the ability to facilitate all types of use cases.
