🔺What we’re watching: Fan3 launched its fan engagement platform on Avalanche designed to enhance fan connections.
🔺Why it matters: In a sector where bot usage and scalpers are on the rise, Fan3 looks to flip to the script and ensure tickets can reach genuine supporters. The fan experience platform uses digital passes and NFC-enabled wristbands to authenticate fans to combat bots. This can help empower artists to reclaim control over their events because it means their fans would be able to get tickets to events at a, hopefully, better price.
Fan3’s ramework is designed for rapid transactions and real-time interactions. “It’s about empowering both sides through true ownership: authenticating fandom, defeating bots and scalpers, and getting real tickets into real fans’ hands,” Fan3 CEO Ross Taylor said.
Fan engagement platforms that are onchain can create a more transparent and connected solution for both artists and fans. Traditional ticketing and engagement models prioritize profit, leaving fans frustrated due to ticket bots and scalpers, among other reasons. However, by recording fan interactions, such as ticket purchases onchain and rewarding loyal users, it can create a trust-based environment where fans feel valued and artists can engage directly.
🔺The bigger picture: The rise of onchain fan engagement platforms reflects a broader push for authenticity and ownership in digital spaces. Blockchain technology empowers fans to own their digital assets, such as tickets, removing the need for a centralized platform that could be exploitive or restricting.
As real human interaction becomes more valued with the rise of AI, fans may seek these deeper and interactive relationships with artists. Platforms like Fan3 can offer interactive experiences, such as real-time reward drops or passholder-only events, that keep fans engaged long after an event ends. In turn, it fosters connections between artists and fans, rather than leaving a poor experience due to bots.
This interconnected approach looks to amplify the value of fan participation, positioning onchain engagement as a contributor to a decentralized cultural economy.
